Fair and independent decisions

Editors evaluate manuscripts on academic merit, scope, originality, method, integrity, and relevance without discrimination based on gender, race, ethnicity, religious belief, or other unrelated personal characteristics.

• Editors and reviewers must withdraw from manuscripts where a conflict of interest exists.
• Unpublished information may not be used without the author's permission.
• Rejection decisions should include a timely, reasoned explanation.
